US v. Nelson, Baker, and Co. for adulteration of various substances including Fluid Extract of Ipecac, June 8, 1926

In this case the US government charged the drug manufacturer Nelson, Baker, and Co. with adulteration and misbranding of numerous products. One of the products seized was Fluidextract of Ipecac. While the bottle was clearly labeled "Ipecac, USP," it did not meet the standards of the compendium. After testing it was found that the product had less than half the required amount of ipecac alkaloids. The file for this case included pictures of the seized substances, as well as the analysis results done by the Chicago Station on several of Nelson, Baker, and Co. products. The defendants plead guilty were imposed a fine of $100.
