Wood was the first USP Chairman to represent USP abroad; traveling to London twice to meet with members of the Royal College Physicians. In addition to assisting in the revision of the USP, Wood also co-authored the U.S. Dispensatory, which included information on monographs from the British and French Pharmacopoeias, demonstrating his in-depth knowledge of international standards and scientific developments.
