USP Council of Experts
The Council of Experts (CoE) is one of the independent governing bodies that helps lead USP, along with the Board of Trustees, the Convention Membership, and the Council of the Convention. Members of the CoE , elected by the USP Convention Membership every five years, chair the Expert Committees which are responsible for USP's scientific and standards-setting decisions. Through deep scientific expertise and a shared commitment to equitable access to quality medicines, dietary supplements, and food ingredients, the chairs and members of the Expert Committees collaborate to drive many stages of USP’s scientific work.
Chaired by Chief Science Officer, Jaap Venema, the CoE meets regularly to set USP’s scientific priorities, connect cross-cutting topics of the Expert Committees, and guide compendial policies.
