Course Description:
The USP General Chapter <825> Radiopharmaceuticals – Preparation, Compounding, Dispensing and Repackaging course will expand upon the uniform minimum standards for the preparation, compounding, dispensing and repackaging of sterile and nonsterile radiopharmaceuticals for both humans and animals, covered in USP General Chapter <825>. These standards are applicable to state-licensed activities, such as the practice of pharmacy and the practice of medicine.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the background leading to the development of USP General Chapter <825>.
- Describe the circumstances under which a sterile radiopharmaceutical may be processed for immediate use.
- Differentiate between preparation of sterile radiopharmaceuticals (including preparation with minor deviations) and compounding of sterile radiopharmaceuticals.
- Identify the requirements for nonsterile processing of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Identify the requirements for an acceptable environment to carry out aseptic processing.
