The United States Pharmacopeia held a free, virtual scientific symposium, “Emerging technologies in probiotic, live biotherapeutic products and microbiome analysis,” on October 6-7, 2022, 8:30-11:30 AM US Eastern Time.
The goals of the symposium included:
- Highlighting the newer technologies for identification and enumeration of live bacteria, such as qPCR, ddPCR and flow cytometry
- Understanding the theory behind these technologies and their performance, and
- Understanding current and possible future uses of these technologies. Case studies for each were also presented. Symposium attendees learned about these technologies from experts in the field, including how to implement them and the advantages and limitations of each technology.
Attendees included
Professionals from contract testing laboratories, as well as from probiotic, live biotherapeutic product, and microbiome industries, including researchers, product manufacturers, and quality assurance
