USP Names Girish Kapur Senior Vice President to Lead India Site Operations

ROCKVILLE, MD, - Feb. 22, 2024 - The U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) today named Girish Kapur, to Senior Vice President of India Site Operations.

The promotion demonstrates the importance of India operations to USP. In this role, Kapur oversees all operations at USP’s India facilities, including Science, HR, Finance, Commercial Operations, and IT and maintains connections with external stakeholders, including local, regional, and national authorities and customers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Ph.D., CEO of USP.  “His visionary leadership was key in transforming USP’s Hyderabad facilities from a lab-focused operation into a thriving team of more than 300 staff, delivering critical operations in information services, quality assurance, customer experience, data analytics, human resources and finance.”

Kapur joined USP in 2018 and was responsible for integrating and consolidating our laboratory operations. He navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with a steady hand, expanded USP infrastructure by adding two additional sites, and led our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) programs and initiatives. Previously, Kapur held leadership roles at Novartis, Pfizer and Ranbaxy.

Kapur holds a P.G. Diploma in Patents Law from NALSAR, Hyderabad, an MBA in Pharmaceutical Management (QA, QC, Regulatory) from IPER, Pune, and an M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, B.Pharm and D.Pharm from DIPSAR, University of Delhi.
