Leveraging the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines to strengthen pharmacovigilance systems in Africa

This session will highlight tools and methods used in evaluating adverse events following immunization (AEFI), which is especially important in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) where monitoring and collecting of non-specific effects and genetic background or prior pathogen exposure may impact the safety profile of vaccines. The session will also explore the use of novel methods for collection and analysis of vaccine safety data in LMICs through various case studies and discuss advancing public private partnerships for greater patient awareness of vaccine safety.
