Designing state-of-the-art laboratories

Developing modern laboratories with multi-use capability has never been more important following the global pandemic. Yet, many countries lack the specialized expertise to design laboratory specifications tailor-made for the environment in which they operate.

We provide a full suite of design and build services for state-of-the-art laboratories and refurbish existing facilities to meet global quality standards. These facilities assure the quality of medical products, promote accurate patient diagnosis, and support a wide range of additional laboratory testing.

As part of our efforts to design environmentally responsible laboratories, we manage construction, provide procurement oversight, and train personnel to produce results that are consistent and reliable. Our expertise extends across physio-chemical, microbiology, food and cosmetics, and medical device laboratories, as well as biosafety laboratories (levels 1-4).

A history of designing and operating laboratories

Since its inception more than 200 years ago, USP has owned and operated more than 150,000 square feet of laboratory space in the U.S., India, Brazil, China, and Ghana. Globally, we’ve built, refurbished, and provided guidance on laboratory infrastructure, operation, and design in countries across Africa and Asia, including Kenya, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and most recently, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where we worked with authorities to develop physio-chemical, microbiology, and medical device laboratories.
