Global Visionaries

William M. Heller, Ph.D.

During Heller's tenure, USP revived the practice of inviting a limited number of delegates from countries recognizing the USP to attend the Quinquennial Convention. In a May 1984 address, Heller communicated a "new direction" for USP to serve the global market by setting standards for drugs not marketed in the U.S., an idea which later became a resolution at the 1985 Convention.
